HERE was yet another cracking good evening in The Studio at the Lighthouse.
Rani Moorthy's one-woman show used curry as a vehicle to transport us around the world. We visited Malaysia during the race riots of the 60s, a Bangladeshi village, the restaurant of an Indian wannabe socialite and the modern kitchen of a career woman preparing a dish for her white in-laws.
All these places - and more - were created in a single kitchen. With a change of clothes and a variation of accent or language, this hugely talented performer suddenly presented fresh characters with fascinating histories and personalities.
It was the smell and taste of the dishes each character cooked that made the taste buds stand to attention. This show had lots of laughs, good food and plenty of ideas to chew over.
