BASINGSTOKE and Deane Borough Council has launched a new website for jobhunters.
It is aimed at giving people who are thinking of going back to work or want to learn something new, get a new job or change career, all the information they need at the click of a mouse.
The www.oneshop.org.uk service is designed to provide a wide range of advice on learning, skills and employment for individuals and businesses.
Visitors to the website can find:
information and advice about increasing skills, improving job, career or business prospects and undertaking personal development
help with applying for jobs, including tips on the design and content of a good CV and handy interview techniques
local learning and training opportunities that could lead to a qualification
sources of funding for your learning - support that may be available to do a full-time, part-time or self-study course
job vacancies in Basingstoke, Hampshire and the rest of the UK
careers information - more than 700 job profiles that explain the work, salary and training to expect from various careers
childcare options - information on childcare services in the area
information for businesses on how to improve the skills of existing staff, to improve retention and attract new staff to the borough.
The website boasts a useful "links" section, aimed at signposting to a variety of information, such as work/life balance, training routes and key organisations.
For those who don't have access to a computer, there is a One Stop Shop freephone hotline on 0800 136670. The hotline gives access to the same information as the website, in complete confidence.
The council is keen to hear feedback from users of the site. E-mail your comments and suggestions to enquiries@oneshop.org.uk or call the above number.
