POLICE have renewed their appeal for witnesses after a father-of-five was killed in a road collision in Fawley.
Michael Teague, 53, was cycling along Fawley Road towards Calshot when he was hit by a white Mercedes Sprinter van travelling in the same direction.
The labourer was cycling to his home in Spratts Down, Fawley, after enjoying a few drinks with friends at a local pub on Saturday night.
The accident occurred at about 11.10pm and Mr Teague died from his injuries shortly after being rushed to Southampton General Hospital.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to the collision, or anyone who saw the cyclist between 10.15pm and 11.05pm cycling between The Old Mill House, Lime Kiln Lane, Holbury and Fawley Road.
Officers are also keen to hear from anyone who assisted at the scene of the collision.
The driver of the van, a 37-year-old man from Southampton, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving with excess alcohol.
He has since been bailed until June 27 pending further inquiries.
Police have appealed for anyone with information which could help with the investigation. They are asked to contact the Road Death Investigation Team, asking for Operation Mistletoe on 0845 045 4545.
