Sir.-As long-standing Winklebury residents, we're concerned to read in a political pamphlet, put through our door, that Winklebury Way will become a rat run if the Manydown development goes ahead.
Judging by the increased traffic flow along Winklebury Way in the last few years - articulated lorries in particular - it has already become one.
Even with double glazing, we can no longer sit in our lounge with the windows open because the traffic noise is so intrusive.
Equally concerning, if Manydown goes ahead, are apparent proposals to close Winklebury Centre and build new shops on Manydown. Winklebury Centre will then be turned over to more housing.
Has consideration been given to how residents without transport (pensioners in particular), are supposed to reach this new centre - a free, regular bus running west along Winklebury Way into the new development, perhaps?
