WE'LL Meet Again: Arrangements for the 60th anniversary of VE Day are coming together.
Leaflets will soon circulate the village giving timing of events, but Don't Sit Underneath the Apple Tree - join your neighbours for a picnic on the recreation ground on Sunday, May 8.
It's not so much Run, Rabbit, Run as it will be our younger villagers who will do the running and the hopping, skipping and jumping as they join in old-fashioned competitive games.
There are prizes for all, including Hershey bars for the winners of each race.
There are also "luxury" wartime hampers for best costumes and loads of prizes for the team winning the quiz.
Brush up on your Second World War dates!
Please return your picnic form to me as soon as possible.
Due to the generosity of some villagers there will be ample liquid refreshment, and Stafford and Michael will be providing the music.
EXHIBITION: To reflect the more sombre aspect of the Second World War, there will be an exhibition in All Saints Church of poetry and villagers' memories from the time.
Someone told me some delightful anecdotes last week and I am hoping that everyone who has a memory of those final days of the Second World War will be able to contribute, so that our younger villagers can read them and understand what the war meant for many people.
