KING of the Jungle and TV and stage comedy star Joe Pasquale will bring his unique brand of madcap humour and familiar songs to The Mayflower in Southampton for one night only in September.

Crowned King of the Jungle in the 2004 series of I'm a Celebrity . . . Get Me Out Of Here, Joe's trademark blend of simplistic jokes, crazy sketches, slapstick lunacy and excruciating puns have left fans of all ages in stitches.

His official fan club describes his voice as "unique, sounding like a cartoon waterfowl and a demented helium balloon" yet somehow he's loved for his zany comedy and audiences flock to see him whereever he performs.

The Essex-born funnyman started his working life as a meat porter at London's Smithfield Market.

His route into entertainment started like so many others, working on the holiday camp circuit.

Pasquale's jobs included calling bingo numbers and refereeing wrestling tournaments.

The comic's definitive break came in 1987 when he entered television talent show New Faces.

His unique brand of madcap humour and nonsensical ditties - including I Know A Song That'll Get On Your Nerves - won him second place in the grand final.

That led the performer into a full-time career, including four Royal Variety performances and his own television shows, such as The Crazy World Of Joe Pasquale in 1999.

Tickets are £17.50. Box office: 023 8011 1811.
