BRITISH teenage forward Mark Richardson will not be joining the Basingstoke Bison for the coming campaign.

The Bracknell Bees player had agreed a deal with the Herd's general manager and head coach Mark Bernard, but was unable to sign a contract as he left for the World Championships in Hungary.

On his return, the 18-year-old changed his mind and now will almost certainly sign for one of the Bison's Elite League competitors.

This is part and parcel of the summer merry-go-round of signings which Bernard is fully aware of. He said: "I'm disappointed Mark will not be wearing our uniform, but he has made that decision and I wish him luck.

"I am working hard talking to a lot of players and, as one doors closes, another opens. These things happen for a reason."

The Basingstoke Bison will be holding a comedy night, followed by a disco, in the Vision Sports Bar located upstairs in the Silver Dome Arena on Saturday, July 2, from 7.30pm to 9pm.

Chambers and Nettleton will be the entertainment and tickets are now on sale at reception or by ringing 01256 355266. Tickets cost £5 in advance and £7 on the night.
