YOU were fan-tastic. It wasn't just the Saints players that won praise for the way they battled back to throw themselves a Premiership relegation lifeline on Saturday.
The thousands of red-and-white bedecked fans who kept up their non-stop support of the team were also saluted for their role in the 4-3 beating of Norwich.
"The fans were absolutely magnificent from the moment we walked out on to the pitch until the game was won," remarked Saints marksman Graeme Le Saux.
"On behalf of all the players I'd like to thank all the supporters.
"We're trying as hard as we can to stay positive and believe in ourselves and we need them for the last two games as well."
True Saints Association chairman Steve Godwin said it was definitely a case of Saints United in the stands.
"I have never known an atmosphere like that at St Mary's," said Godwin.
"All four stands stayed behind for five minutes after the game singing and dancing - it was fantastic.
"Before the game the club, the Daily Echo and the fans' groups had all asked everyone to get behind the team, and they did.
"Saints fans have been fantastic all season and people obviously thought there was no point coming and getting on the players' backs.
"Sure, there are fans who are annoyed with Rupert and the board, and there are fans who were annoyed with the team for the way they played at Portsmouth, but that was all forgotten during the game.
"Even when Norwich scored early there was a ten-second 'oh here we go again' feeling, but then everyone started getting behind the team again.
"The feeling at the end was just one of absolute jubilation.
"There were two girls sitting behind me in tears - I don't know what it's going to be like if the unthinkable happens.
"I'm still not confident of staying up but I'm more optimistic.
"As for the Man United game ... the Norwich match was just a dress rehearsal for that.
"The emotions will be doubled from Norwich and people will need to be brave to stick that one out."
