LUCKY David Smith prepares himself for the opportunity of a lifetime aboard the tall ship Lord Nelson.
The youngster, who has cerebral palsy, is being supported aboard the ship by Treloar School care worker Nathan Thomas and Rose Road outreach worker Jenny Charles.
The trip will take him away from Southampton for a few days.
David, 16, who Southampton-based charity Rose Road supports with outreach when he is at home from school, was offered the place on the ship, owned by Jubilee Sailing Trust, by the Southampton Chamber of Commerce.
Jenny said: "I think David will benefit from the challenge of this adventure.
"He will find it exhilarating and certainly very hard work."
