Eastleigh'S weekend went like clockwork for manager Paul Doswell, who is feeling upbeat and optimistic for Wednesday's big Ryman Premier play-off semi-final at home to George Borg's Braintree Town (7.45pm).

Roared on by two coachloads of partying supporters wearing ginger wigs in tribute to injured midfielder Tyronne Bowers, Eastleigh concluded their league fixtures with a pleasing 2-1 victory at relegated Dover Athletic.

Both goals came courtesy of on-loan Stevenage Borough striker Craig McAllister.

The first was a sixth-minute left-foot volley from a well-worked corner routine in which Mark Blake helped on Martin Beck's delivery with a cushioned header.

Dover equalised on 20 minutes when midfielder Shane Hampshire dived full-length to head past keeper Wayne Shaw, but McAllister struck again two minutes from time after substitute Andy Forbes - fit again after hamstring trouble - had chested down Shaun Dyke's cross.

Doswell smiled: "It was a lovely way to end the season. Finishing third in a league is a great achievement.

"Craig McAllister's scored a couple of goals to boost his confidence before Wednesday and Andy Forbes has come through 20 minutes. I wanted Forbesy to feel he was fit."

Eastleigh's fans presented Dover's supporters with a cheque for £200 in memory of Folkestone Invicta's Paul Sykes, who tragically collapsed on the pitch and died last month.

Salisbury defeated Wealdstone 3-1 in their final game of the season.

City went ahead on eight minutes through Leigh Phillips and hit a second on 61 minutes through Matt Tubbs.

Wealdstone pulled a goal back but Salisbury had the last word when Craig Davis marked his return from injury with a cracking finish for the third.
