Harry Redknapp faces an anxious wait to see whether he will be without injured strikers Peter Crouch and Henri Camara for tomorrow's massive relegation battle with Norwich.
The Saints boss has been forced to recall Brett Ormerod and Dexter Blackstock from loan spells at Wigan and Plymouth respectively.
There is a big chance that Ormerod may be thrown straight back into the first team to partner Kevin Phillips against the Canaries.
Crouch has been unable to train this week because of the tight hamstring that ruled him out of the Pompey match after suffering the injury in the warm-up.
Camara, right, has a similar problem that he sustained during the horrific Fratton Park loss.
Redknapp only rates both players as 50-50 to make the Norwich game but will wait and assess both tomorrow morning before selecting his team.
He said: "We are still not sure about Peter Crouch and now Henri has picked up a hamstring as well.
"He felt it on Sunday and again on Tuesday and he has not been right all week.
"He has not trained and he will be a late check on Saturday.
"Peter has not had a hamstring injury before so he was not sure how it was.
"He came in 15 minutes before the kick-off at Pompey and said he could feel it tightening. If we had sent him out and it had gone then we would have lost him for the last three games and we cannot afford that.
"I've called Brett Ormerod back. Brett will always give you a performance so I've got no problem with that and if he has to play he'll play.
"I've called Dexter back as well because we need bodies."
But there is better news of Graeme Le Saux, who has recovered from his Achilles injury that ruled him out of the Pompey debacle and is fit to play.
Ormerod scored two goals in six appearances for Wigan - both in a 2-0 win at Leicester - while Blackstock netted four times in 14 for Plymouth, including two in a 3-0 win at fellow strugglers Nottingham Forest recently.
Ormerod has only made four Premiership starts for Saints this season - plus four as a sub, the last one at Newcastle in January - and last scored in the league for Saints against Leeds in January 2004.
Blackstock has made eight league starts for Saints this season, the last at Anfield three days after Christmas.
But Redknapp will be hoping both strikers can add depth to his squad ahead of Saints' most important league match since 1978.
He added: "We need three points this weekend. It's a massive game.
"We're where we've been all season, we're still in a relegation battle. But the whole situation could change come tomorrow night, we could be looking at a completely different table ... if we do what we have to do."
