TIDWORTH'S ambition to have a new all singing all dancing community centre is likely to be assisted by a change in government policy that requires local authorities to provide access to childcare centres by 2008, a meeting in Tidworth heard.
Child Development worker, Carol Hinchcliff, who is employed by Wiltshire County Council, said there needs to be 20 of the centres in the county by 2008 and Tidworth is likely to get one.
"It will be the focal point in the town and the place to access all other services in the town."
She added that there was a recognition that existing provision had been concentrated in the north and west of the county and that this side had missed out.
The planned community resource is likely to have this childcare facility in it - which will help with the funding of the facility.
