THE Museum of Army Flying at Middle Wallop will be going back 60 years to 1945 on 27 May when it hosts a street party for 50 veterans and 380 children from five local primary schools.
The idea for the street party came about after the museum was approached by Middle Wallop primary school to help put them in touch with local veterans as part of a national project which celebrates 60 years since the end of the Second World War.
The project has since grown into a much larger event, which will include a performance by the Army Air Corps Band and a short flying display by the Blue Eagles.
On the day of the street party, local primary children will have the opportunity to interview the veterans about their wartime experiences before enjoying party food and music 1945 style.
