A woman in the company of a young boy tried to con two elderly men in their own homes on Monday evening.
In the first incident, in Ludger-shall's Lady Diana Court, the woman knocked on the door of a man at about 8.15pm and asked whether he had any flowers in the house and if she could see them.
"She then offered to sell him some flowers even though she didn't have any with her," said Inspector Bill Dowling. "After entry was refused the pair left."
Later that same evening, at about 8.45 the pair forced their way into the home of a 90-year-old man in Marlbor-ough.
"The youngster asked the man for a cuddle and frisked him and then asked whether he was going out that evening," added the inspector.
The pair then left the man's home at Savernake Court.
The woman is described as being medium to thick-set in build, aged between 20 and 25, with dark blonde hair, tied possibly in a pony tail.
She was wearing a bright yellow T-shirt, denim jacket and trainers.
The boy who accompanied her is thought to be between eight and 10, with close-cropp-ed ginger or blond hair.
He was wearing a blue anorak with a blue stripe. Anyone with any information about the pair should call Wiltshire police on 01722 411444.
