A FRESH set of traffic lights will be installed at the entrance to a new industrial estate after parish councillors in Ludgershall withdrew their opposition to them at a special meeting on Friday afternoon.
The councillors had voiced their objection to the proposal for lights between Tidworth and Ludgershall at the new entrance to Castledown Business Park but were persuaded to drop their objection on being told that it was the safety option.
Several members of staff from St Modwen Properties, the owners of the site, together with a technical expert from Wiltshire Highways and the chairman of the chamber of commerce attended the meeting - either to lobby for their proposal or provide information.
"Putting in a further set of lights at the entrance and another at the junction of the High Street is going to cause a huge traffic blockage in Ludgershall," said Chris Williams, the chairman of the council.
"It's bad enough now when traffic can be backed up as far a Faberstown."
