HAMPSHIRE have a double date with the Isle of Wight in the two major women's inter-county outdoor championships.
They meet the Islanders on Tuesday, May 31, at Worthing Pavilion in the preliminary round of the Johns Trophy while on Thursday, June 9, the sides again lock horns in the Walker Cup (double rink) first round at Gillingham, Dorset. Both matches start at 1.30.
Hampshire's team manager this summer will be ex-Atherley bowler Jan Jones. A Johns Trophy player for many seasons and now a Bournemouth member, she is happy to be a non-playing manager and takes over the post from Patricia Rowe, last year's county president from Atherley.
Hampshire open their fixtures on Thursday of next week away to Surrey and have a badge trial the following day at Aldershot Underwood, club of this season's president Ann Cottrell.
Liz Messer (Southbourne) and Gill Mitchell (Richmond Park) have been chosen for the international trial on Sunday, May 15, at Royal Leamington Spa. Both have represented England before.
Claire Spreadbury (Oakley), Elaine Cullen (Gosport), Jenny Devine (Richmond Park) and Laura Kitcher (Knyveton Gardens) have been selected for the junior trial on Sunday, June 5, also at Leamington Spa.
The senior international series is on June 15-21 at Leamington Spa while the junior equivalent is at Ballymena, Northern Ireland, on July 23-26.
