ONE year after opening, Fareham's Wessex Dental Specialist Centre is expanding with the appointment of endodontic or root canal expert Ken Harper.
Ken is a consultant and specialist in restorative dentistry and endodontics. He brings more than 20 years of dentistry experience to the Wessex, with key posts held within Guy's Hospital, the RAF and the Eastman Dental Institute where he retains an honorary consultant and lecturer role.
A Council Member of the British Endodontic Society, he is also an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners.
He said: "People always wince when you mention root canal treatment, but advances over the last couple of years have transformed the experience. The latest equipment, techniques and anaesthetic have combined to offer a quicker, relatively pain free and highly effective treatment."
An action man at heart, Ken has taken part in the Whitbread Round the World race, the Admirals Cup and enjoys skiing. The love of sailing has brought Ken and his family from London to the south coast. Based in Bosham with two young children, the Harpers enjoy weekends of sailing around Bosham and the Hamble area.
