PUFFBALL dresses, skirts made from belts and medieval ruffs paraded the catwalk in a fantastic array of imagination and flair.
Strutting beneath the propellers and wings of historic aircraft, some of South-ampton's top fashion students displayed their designs at Solent Sky, the city's aviation museum.
About 40 level two and three BA (Hons) fashion students from Southampton Institute had pinned and stitched their elaborate collections for the one-off display.
With collection titles like Trashed and The Next Generation, theirs is the fashion world of the future, with daring cuts, bright colours and an anything-goes imagination.
One collection featured medieval-style dresses with velvet ruffs, while another was a classic collection of yachtie-style casual clothing.
A model swept among the audience wearing a daring skirt made entirely of studded belts. Others sported clinical outfits and tall collars.
An audience of several hundred peered down to the catwalk from the museum's first floor gallery and packed around the wheels of the large aircraft.
Final year fashion student Vikki Bell, event organiser, said: "It was a great opportunity for the students to get their work seen. Some influential people from the industry were invited to view them."
