THE Basingstoke Concert Band will present its Spring Concert on May 14, at Sherfield-on-Loddon Village Hall.
It is always the first major event of the year for the band and will open its season with a flourish that is sure to continue through the year.
The theme of the evening is Stage and Screen, and will include many favourites, such as Les Misrables, The Sound of Music, Georgia, Hollywood Milestones, Hello Dolly! and The Magnificent Seven.
Basingstoke Concert Band is a traditional wind band that has been in existence for almost 30 years. It has come a long way, with more than 40 playing members under the leadership of Roger Ball.
As well as indoor spring and Christmas concerts, the band performs many open-air concerts through the summer.
Members are regulars at Basingstoke's Eastrop Park bandstand and have entertained passengers from the QE2, Oceana and Aurora.
The band also has successfully toured in Europe, performing in Holland, Germany and France.
This year will see the fourth European tour, with 25 members visiting The Black Forest in Germany at the end of May to perform three concerts.
