SOUTHAMPTON Diving Academy's Max Brick, has just returned from his debut representing Great Britain at the Junior Europeans in Aachen, Germany.
Diving well throughout the competition Max, 12, rose to the occasion with personal bests in both his events - the 3m and platform.
On platform Max was unlucky to be pushed into 13th place with 306.20 points, only three points behind teammate Thomas Daley from Plymouth, denying him a place in the final.
A score of 310.80 points gave Max 19th place on the 3m board.
Max's coach, Charly Tomkys, was thrilled with his performance. "This was a brilliant start to his international career," she said. "I only wish I could have been there to see it myself!"
Max only began diving two years ago, with one of his first competitions being the Southampton Schools' Competition, where he took the gold medal just a few weeks after joining the lessons scheme at the Quays.
Max is now preparing for the National Age Groups competition to be held in Sheffield at the end of May, where he will join a team of 23 divers representing Southampton Diving Academy.
The Southampton Schools' Competition will be held at the Quays on Saturday 25th June this year, when anyone is welcome to come along and spot the next Olympic potential as they start out on their diving careers.
