WITH Lymington & New Milton poised just one win away from the Sydenhams Wessex League title, chairman John Mills has confirmed that their Fawcett's Field ground will not block their path to promotion.
Quashing rumours that the Linnets may have too much to do before Sunday's (May 1) return visit from the FA's ground-grading team, Mills insists all the necessary work is being done this week to achieve the e-grade for Ryman/Southern League football
Following an initial inspection last month, Lymington were left with a list of improvements to carry out and Mills said yesterday: "I can categorically state that all those jobs will be done by the weekend.
"We're having to build two new eight-seater dugouts and there are people down there doing that as we speak.
"A new turnstile arrived on Saturday which is being fitted this week and we need an additional showerhead in each dressing room which, again, is being done right now.
"We've already got treatment tables for both dressing rooms and, apart from that, there are a couple of smaller jobs to do such as fitting a table and lighting for the press and signs for the toilets and exits.
"Those are all things we were told to do, so there's no way they can come up with anything else."
Linnets' title rivals Winchester City had their ground re-inspected last Thursday having completed their list of jobs ahead of schedule.
They are now awaiting confirmation from the FA that their ground been awarded an e-grade.
Last season Winchester pulled off a memorable Wessex League/League Cup/FA Vase treble only to be denied promotion because their ground was not up to standard.
Despite the departure of wealthy director of football David Malone, they have worked tirelessly to ensure they don't fall into the same trap this year but, ironically, it could be events on the pitch that let them down this time.
Saturday's costly 3-3 draw with Bemerton Heath Harlequins will have put the title beyond their grasp if Lymington win their final game at home to Gosport Borough on Saturday.
