INJURED Isle of Wight speedway rider Jason Bunyan has revealed the full extent of his injuries caused by crashing at an event in Germany.
Bunyan said: "I could be back on a bike within six weeks, however doctors have told me in no uncertain terms that if I did and I crashed then the only outcome would be to amputate my leg.
"The leg is not a problem and is healing, but the German doctors have not put it in a cast, but the steel rods must stay in for 12 months. I could race with them in, but one crash could have serious repercussions."
Bunyan is also having problems with his left hand with has had to be re-built. His finger and hand were so badly damaged in the crash in Germany with American Billy Janniro that he has pins and bolts holding it together.
"It's the only painful thing, me leg is ok," he said.
Bunyan has hit out at the Injured Speedway Riders fund, who have told him he is not entitled to any help as the accident took place overseas.
"So it could be 12 months with no income," he rued. "Even the special insurance that I took out have said I am not covered for this one."
