EVERGREENS: On Tuesday, April 12, the Evergreens enjoyed their trip to the Old Time Music Hall at Wickstead.
Jean Wright said: "Everyone really enjoyed it. It was our first visit and this time the carousel was outside, the gardens were lovely, there was a train ride, and the polyanthuses were out of this world."
SPRING fair: The next item on the Evergreens' agenda is the spring fair, which is on Saturday, April 30, from 2pm, in the village hall.
Entrance is 50p, to include tea and biscuits.
THANKS: Many thanks to Jan and Alan, for holding the Casino Night.
A sum of £1,293 was raised for the village hall.
The trustees are extremely grateful to them and thank all those who came and supported the evening.
GENIUS: "Nothing to declare but our genius" was the title of the NWR national conference this year.
Five Sherfield members went to the University of Reading where the conference was held.
There were workshops, discussions, walks and talks on all aspects of "Genius" including issues raised by the chair of Mensa, defining the term "genius" and a workshop called "What the eye doesn't see" which was a history of magic.
There was also a heritage tour of Reading.
PARISH council: The parish council met on Wednesday, April 13. More next week.
