If Saints concede first at Fratton Park on Sunday they will be battling a horrific history that stretches back 11 years.
Since 1994, Saints have never won a Premier League away game after falling behind first and they have only recovered from conceding the first goal to win four times since the Premiership began in 1992.
Their last away success after conceding first came at Highfield Road on 24 September, 1994, when they beat Coventry 3-1, as a Ronnie Ekelund strike and an Iain Dowie double overcame Dion Dublin's second-minute goal.
Eleven years on, Saints are yet to repeat the feat and, although it is a record they'd like to end, they'll be hoping they will not be in a position on Sunday where they need to overcome it.
Before the win against Coventry, Saints did have a fair degree of success at overcoming an early setback.
In March 1993, Saints came from 1-0 down at Wimbledon to win 2-1, thanks to goals from Matthew Le Tissier and Kevin Moore.
The first of three such comebacks in 1994 came at Carrow Road, when a Le Tissier hat-trick helped Saints to a 5-4 win over Norwich, who had led through Mark Robins.
