AN ANIMAL sanctuary has made an urgent appeal for toys.
RSPCA Stubbington Ark began the collection on April 1 and already a number of people have come forward with donations but scores more are needed.
The Ark has on average 120 dogs and even more cats and new toys are always needed to keep the lonely animals amused.
Mike Ward, manager of the Ark in Ranvilles Lane, Stubbington, said: "So far the appeal has been really successful but we do need more toys as the animals get through them quite quickly.
"We've had people coming in and donating individual toys and others who have brought in bag loads. Every one of them is appreciated.
"This is something new we are trying because toys are too expensive to keep buying but they do help fight boredom amongst the animals."
Stubbington Ark is looking for squeaky toys, plastic and chewable toys - but not soft toys with detachable pieces.
The Ark can be contacted on 01329 667541.
