NEWS that Tesco is planning to open a medium sized store in Tidworth has been welcomed by Tidworth Community Area Partnership and provided more evidence that quality of life in the area is improving, it was claimed.
TCAP chairman, Col Carron Snagge said: "Combined with facilities such as the Tidworth Leisure Centre it shows that Tidworth is becoming a jolly nice place to live - and that is what we are aiming for."
Col Richard Amery told the meeting that the land on the undeveloped side of Station Road known as 'The Green' has been sold to Tesco subject to planning permission.
The chief executive of Kennet District Council, Mark Boden, said: The news about Tesco is extremely good news and I would like to thank the garrison and Richard Amery. Without his efforts this would not have happened."
The supermarket giant is expected to apply for planning permission in the next three or four months.
