ANDOVER'S water supply was threatened on Tuesday night when a fire damaged a portion of the River Way pump house building.
Andover firefighters responded swiftly to a call at 9.20pm and stopped the blaze spreading by using a special equipment unit from Winchester and an aerial ladder platform from Basingstoke.
The damage was limited to around 10 per cent of the water supply works building.
A Southern Water spokeswoman said that repair work is due to get underway on the building.
