LUDGERSHALL'S vicar says more needs to be done to improve safety for pedestrians in the middle of the village.
At a meeting of the Tidworth Community Area Partnership, the Rev Malcolm Freeman, said: "I'm concerned there is going to be a major accidents in the High Street.
"With the proposed development at Erskine House there will be even more cars coming out onto the main road. Only today a car driver had to slam on his brakes to stop his car from hitting me on the crossing."
Kennet District Council chief executive, Mark Boden, also wanted more action on road safety under the auspices of the community area transport study being drawn up by Wiltshire County Council. If a more comprehensive outline of proposed safe routes for cycles and pedestrians was available, the planning authority would have a better idea what to ask developers for.
