ANNA Valley pig farmer Martin Martindale has won two major prizes at the Great Hampshire Sausage and Pie Competition - including traditional pork sausage champion for his King Alfred banger.
The competition took place at Sparsholt College last week when 30 butchers from across Hampshire submitted 170 products, making it one of the largest county competitions in the country.
Mr Martindale, who owns and runs Greenfield Pork Products, said: "I'm particularly pleased with the traditional sausage win because I've only been making them myself for 12 months.
"The secret of success is using our own free-range pork." He also won three gold aw-ards. He won two golds and two silvers in the competition last year, the first time that he entered sausages made by himself as well using his own pork.
But this is his most prestigious win so far, and he also won the Farmers' Market championship.
