Gosport & Fareham's league clash with doomed Kent side Tunbridge Wells tomorrow is as big as any match in their history - including their memorable Twickenham appearance in 2002.
On that day, at rugby's headquarters, they fell to National Division Two-bound Halifax in the Intermediate Cup final. Tomorrow league survival is at stake.
Defeat for Simon Burns' side will see them almost certainly drop back to London Three South-West while a win might not even be enough, depending on fourth-placed Guildford meeting with Dartfor-dians, who hold the safety rung.
At least Gosport are able to call on their strongest possible squad for this most crucial of games as they fly Dave Goddard in from his Army duties in Germany and include Ben Taylor and James Barnes in the backs.
Player-coach Sean Fanning will play at fly-half as long as he is passed fit while there are also doubts hanging over prop Paul Maxwell (leg), lock Harry Harrison (broken finger) and replacement front-row man Jon Ward (neck).
Neil Evans, Dane Smallbone and Peter Wallis all stand-by but Fanning is hopeful that his key players will all be on the front line for the 3pm kick-off at Dolphin Crescent.
Fanning, in his last game in charge of the club, knows full well that this game might not matter if results do not go their way but he just wants his charges to do their bit.
"Everyone knows what this game means," he said. "Going to Twickenham was one thing but this is much bigger and more important than that. No one wants to see this club go down and it would be very bad for the club if we did.
"All I have asked for is one big, last effort from everyone. I have put the best lads I can out on the park for this game and they all want to stay in this league. But we know that Guildford have to win too to save us.
"All I ask is that all the clubs supporters get behind us because this is such an important game, not just for us as the first team players but for the whole club."
Portsmouth are already assured of second place and a third shot at the play-offs but they will want to go into next week's clash with star-studded Staines on a high by defeating Beckenham.
They take no chances and name their regular starting line-up, which does include a return for back-row pair Brendan Treacey and James Pegler while Oge Ofuasia is back after missing last week's game.
Havant are assured of a top half finish, which was their pre-season target, and they will be looking to secure sixth place if they can sink Southend in their final game.
But the physio's table has been in constant use this week, following the Hampshire Cup final stroll over Basingstoke with Steve Cruddas, Dylan Raubenheimer and Ali Ramus all nursing strains.
Half-back pairing Liam Davenport and Owen Cobbe hope to shake off their respective injuries but Nick Cooper (hamstring) and South African Anton Petzer are both definitely out, the latter undergoing a back operation this week.
Tireless director of rugby Adam King praised his side for their efforts this season but is now looking to strengthen the squad for a serious crack at promotion next year. "The guys have done tremendously well for me and the club this season," he said.
"But it is no secret that I am actively speaking to six or seven players at present and others have contacted me so I am looking to enhance the squad."
