JENNY HYDE has just returned from the CSI International show jumping competition held in Pune, about 3 hrs south of Mumbai, India.
Great Britain won the team bronze medal, with Jenny, from Brook in the New Forest, riding alongside Sarah Coughlan from Kent and Swedish-based Briton Robert Blanchette.
The team rode horses that were supplied by the Indian Army, all the competitors drawing lots to decide their mounts. Each rider had 30 minutes to get used to the horse on the Friday and were allowed to jump up to ten fences in this time; then it was straight into competition on the Saturday, jumping two rounds in up to 1 minute 25 secs.
The team competition was won by Singapore and Australia took silver. In total there were nine teams from around the world. The show was held at the National Defence Academy, and took place in temperatures of up to 45 degrees, in front of 5000 spectators. The competition was sponsored by Baja Autos Ltd.
Jenny, who's 30, has one horse, Sandro, with whom she competes in National 6 year old classes.
The trip to India was her first International competition and both she and the team felt very pleased with their achievement.
