ONE of Hampshire's newest and most successful football teams has gained promotion after just one season.
Members of Dibden Minister Harriers turned out for the first time last year and have had a dream start, winning the Southampton Junior Six League after triumphing in 14 of their 20 games.
Now the team is hoping some of its success will rub off on Saints, who are battling to avoid relegation after a string of poor results.
Dibden Minister Harriers manager Alan Plascott is backing the Daily Echo's campaign to keep Saints in top-flight football.
He said: "Saints went wrong by not spending more money in the transfer market and not changing managers earlier in the season.
"They should have appointed Harry Redknapp - or someone of his stature - sooner than they did. Hopefully, Harry can still stop them from going down."
Dibden Minister Harriers, who are based at Shore Road, Hythe, have launched a search for sponsors to help fund new equipment.
Mr Plascott added: "We're looking for sponsorship for next season and would be happy to advertise a business in return for financial help."
