LOCAL history buffs are being invited to enter a competition with the chance to win £150 and a silver salver.
The competition is being run by The Annual Writer's Conference, who hold a yearly meeting at University College Winchester.
The meeting, the largest festival of writing in the UK, is now entering its 25th year and will see scores of writers and reading fans descend on the college over the weekend of June 24 - 26.
The Local History Competition is just one of 15 competitions being held that weekend. Entrants must write a piece of no more than 10,000 words on a topic of local history.
Last year's winner was Layton's of Andover - The history of a china and glass warehouse 1853 - 1952 by David Borrett.
In addition to the money and salver, the winning entry will also be published in The Best of 2005 - the writer's conference anthology.
