IT would be the victory of all time, but Labour is leading in one poll in Winchester.
The poll at the Horse and Groom pub in Alresford shows Labour on 31 per cent, the Tories on 30 and the Liberal Democrats on 21.
The exercise is completely unscientific, as it is based on the sales of locally-brewed Itchen Valley bitter at the pub in Broad Street.
Drinkers can choose which of three ales they want, from a pump adorned in political colours.
Labour candidate Patrick Davies is pictured in Alresford, welcoming support from MP Martin Salter, left. Mr Salter, MP for Reading, said he was delighted to be campaigning again for his friend and colleague.
Together with the Labour team of helpers, the two candidates had lunch in the pub and were pleased to see the beer poll showing Labour ahead.
Mr Davies said: "Local people now realise that the only government which can be formed on May 6 is a Labour or a Tory one. Most people are determined they do not want Michael Howard in Downing Street. Only a re-elected Labour government can stop that happening."
