HARRY REDKNAPP believes it is now up to the players to get Saints out of relegation trouble.
The Saints boss brought in five new signings in the January transfer window to give the team a much-needed boost and has kept faith with what he feels is his best group of players for some time now.
But, despite his input, Saints are still stuck in the bottom three with games fast running out.
He said: "You can beat yourself up and drive yourself mad, but what can you do?
"You're sitting there as a manager with your team 2-0 up. You've got them right all week, they're bright and their attitude is good and they come out and play fantastic and then suddenly you give away poor, poor goals.
"What can you do?
"That's individuals and it's not as if you can suddenly go 'bosh - you're out, you're out, you're out' and I'm going to put these four in because I haven't got them here.
"I haven't got four or five players who are bursting a gut that are going to make a difference to us, so I've got to get the best out of what we've got and that's what I'll try to do."
After Saturday's dramatic collapse against Aston Villa there is a feeling that Saints need to get something out of tonight's trip to Bolton and Sunday's visit to Fratton Park to aid their survival bid.
It's not going to be easy but Redknapp is hoping that he and the players can pick themselves up and learn from their mistakes at St Mary's on Saturday before it's too late.
He said: "We've got to keep believing - we've got to go somewhere and get something.
"We were doing so well and then results haven't gone our way. On Saturday for 60 minutes I thought we were fantastic and then we panicked and dropped deeper and deeper and they scored from a corner.
"We've got all the markings up on a board before the game and at half-time and people have to do their jobs or you get punished.
"Somebody should be looking. I said at half-time that in the first half two of our players are walking into our penalty area from a corner with their back to the ball.
"That's schoolboy football. You never take your eye off the ball.
"They get a corner and pick out Solano totally unmarked. Someone should be there shouting 'get there and mark him'. Then you don't have a problem.
"That's where you need people in there to do that but we've got a lot of quiet, quiet players and that's the problem."
He added: "The disappointing thing is that we give goals away - you can't give three goals away against Chelsea, Blackburn, Aston Villa, it's too many.
"That's our problem at the moment.
"You've got to pick up clean sheets and be hard to beat."
