PARISH council: The parish clerk says: "Thank you to the volunteers who planted up the new traffic-calming flowerboxes on a very blustery morning last week.
"We are also grateful to Wyevale Garden Centre for supplying us with the plants."
EVERGREENS: Jean Wright says: "Unfortunately, our April meeting didn't go according to plan.
"Due to a mix-up, our speaker didn't arrive, so we had a game of bingo instead.
"We are hoping he'll be able to come at a later date."
On Tuesday, the Evergreens went to the Music Hall at Wickstead.
News of this next week.
WI: Oliver Symonds gave an interesting talk at the April WI meeting, entitled "25 Years Round the Royal Ballet".
His talk brought everything alive. He spoke of his dancing, his struggle
to succeed and, at 68, he still teaches ballet and is an extra at the ballet company."
The next WI meeting is the produce show, with all the usual competitions, and the resolution meeting on May 4.
FETE: Volunteers are always needed, so call Sandy, on 882507, if you are free on June 11, and want to help.
CONGRATULATIONS: To Sherfield Football Club, who, in their centenary season, won the Basingstoke Junior Cup final.
The village reserves team beat AFC Berg reserves 3-1 at Basingstoke Town's Camrose ground on Sunday, April 10.
Well done boys!
