MOBILE phone news: Simon Preedy reports that the application by Orange for a mast at the Brighton Hill Playing Fields was accepted by the borough council's development control committee on April 6.

The 20m 3G mast will be located on land adjacent to Cliddesden Lane.

MINI motos: Residents have reported a group of about five young people riding around the estate on mini motorbikes.

The police say that, if caught, the bikers will be given only one warning and then the bikes will be impounded.

So anyone thinking of buying one for themselves or someone else should think again as, without a lot of work to get them roadworthy and registering them as such, they can only be ridden legally on private land, with the landowner's permission.

The police are asking for anyone with information to contact local beat officers.

MARATHON man: My brother Vince Butcher, from Hatch Warren, ran the London Marathon last Sunday.

He was running in honour of our mother, who died in 2003, and in aid of the PBC Foundation, a charity which supports people suffering from PBC, a liver disease with no known cause or cure.

If anyone would like to sponsor him, just click on the following website - www.just giving.com/vincepbc

BREAST cancer support: Anyone whose life has been affected by breast cancer might like to know that there is an active self-help group in the area.

The group is run by Ann Vickery and meets regularly at The ARK at the hospital, for information and support.

The next meeting will be on April 26, from 7pm until 9pm.
