ASDA: Events co-ordinator Sam has, again, been collecting for the mayor's charities.
Customers visiting ASDA have been learning about body fat testing. The aim is to conduct an analysis of the percentage of fat in relation to total body weight.
Volunteers tried the test in Festival Place and in ASDA, in Brighton Hill.
The body mass index is an internationally used index for checking body condition.
In my case, the body fat monitor showed my body fat percentage to be 31.8 and a satisfactory upper limit is 31 per cent. Furthermore, I am slightly underweight.
MANOR Field Junior School: The community relations team visited The ARK on March 22. Team members interviewed Mr Rees, the founder and head surgeon of The ARK.
May I thank Sam Edwards, team member, for sending me a report of the visit, listing questions asked and replies given by Mr Rees.
First, he was asked why he wanted to be a surgeon. He replied that it was in order to help people.
A second question asked how many people accompanied Mr Rees in the operating theatre and he answered two other surgeons plus two anaesthetists.
To further questions, he replied that it took him 14 years to become a surgeon and he carries out between five and seven operations weekly. He explained that the logo on the badge, showing two giraffes hugging, means surgeons and doctors wish to make people better.
The deputy headteacher described The ARK as a wonderful facility, well worth the £5.5million.
The pupils hope to visit The ARK again.
