LEGENDARY folksinger and timeless musical poet Donovan will play a special evening of intimate music on May 11 at the Portsmouth Guildhall.
Donovan, made famous for his shimmering, intimate voice, poetic, seductive lyrics and the dreamy, hazy music, is stopping off in Portsmouth as part of his 40th anniversary tour, playing his distinctive classics such as Mellow Yellow, Sunshine Superman, Catch the Wind and Atlantis.
He has helped influence many of music's biggest artists after forging a career in the Sixties as one of the decade's most inspirational stars.
Donovan creates and captures the sounds and spirit of a decade in his music, displaying all the qualities that made him the winner of the Ivor Novello award in 1965 as well as breaking the attendance record for Madison Square Garden in New York the following year.
The Portsmouth show will be the first chance to hear the live performances of tracks from his recent and much anticipated Beat Caf album, one of his precious but infrequent new releases.
Tickets from £20. Box office: 023 9282 4355.
