STONEHAM clubman Sam Boyes has won the first of the regional qualifiers in the prestigious Faldo Golf Series.
The 20-year-old Hampshire squad man took the overall honours at Celtic Manor's Wentwood Hills course, which will be the venue for the 2010 Ryder Cup.
Boyes, pictured, carded a two under par 70 after struggling through his first nine holes in two over. The youngster from Eastleigh found his touch over the back nine with five birdies to lead by four clear strokes.
The tournament was the first of three events in the South West England and South Wales region.
