Sir.-The British Heart Foundation (BHF), the nation's heart charity, is looking for volunteers in Basingstoke to help support its biggest annual fundraising campaign - Help a Heart Week.
The campaign runs from June 4 to 12, and is raising money to fund pioneering research into the causes and treatment of heart disease.
The reality is that heart and circulatory disease will kill over 2,400 women during Help a Heart Week, and coronary heart disease claims the lives of four times more women than breast cancer.
The charity needs to spend £190 every two minutes of every day on life-saving heart research to enable us to keep thousands of vulnerable hearts beating, but we can't do it without the support of our dedicated volunteers.
Opportunities include getting together a group of family, friends or colleagues to make a team for a fundraising collection in the local area, taking part in an organised local fundraising collection or organising a local fundraising event.
The BHF needs your help urgently.
If any of your readers would like to help us keep hearts beating and save lives, as well as meet new friends, they can call me on 023 9246 7904 for an informal chat.
-Mary Bareham, area organiser, British Heart Foundation.
