NEIL HARDS knows two more performances like Friday's at Andover will see Winchester City crowned Sydenhams Wessex League champions for the second year running.
"Breathtaking" was Hards's summary of the 5-0 mauling of the Lions which keeps City ahead of Lymington & New Milton on goal difference.
The last two home games against Bemerton and Brockenhurst should pose no great difficulty for the reigning champions.
But Hards said: "On paper they are two winnable games, but they can sometimes become banana skins as we learned when we lost 4-3 at Downton.
"The league's in our own hands now and we've got to make sure we put in two more performances like we produced on Friday.
"Even on a bumpy pitch, we played some lovely football. The lads were brilliant."
Goals by Jamie Musselwhite (2), Graeme Gee, Liam Green and Jamie Laidlaw abruptly halted Andover's eight-game unbeaten run.
With two matches remaining, Winchester and Lymington & New Milton are neck and neck with 93 points each at the top of the Wessex League.
But Winchester have a massive "plus 20" goal difference in their favour as they head into their final two games against Bemerton and Brockenhurst.
"We need a big favour from one of them if we are going to do it," said Lymington boss Ian Robinson.
Like City, Lymington's last two matches are at home - to Christchurch and Gosport.
