JANE Austen's romantic novel Emma is to be brought to dramatic life on stage at The Haymarket Theatre, Basingstoke.
The show has been adapted by Martin Millar and Smack the Pony star Doon MacKichan.
The play's title character is so dedicated to sorting out other people's romantic issues that she forgets to help out her own heart - until she nearly runs out of time.
The social traits of the English are put under the microscope but, in true Austen style you can expect a happy ending. Of course, with comics Millar and MacKichan involved, you can expect a few surprises along the way.
One of Austen's most frequently adapted books, you can see Emma at The Haymarket Theatre, Basingstoke from Friday, May 6 to Saturday, May 28.
Tickets cost from £10. Box office: 0870 770 1088.
