A COMPROMISE has been reached between developers, councillors and residents over a scheme for the former Royal Observer Corps post, off Worthy Lane, Winchester.
Developers, Bayview, have now revised plans and are due to submit an application for nine new houses instead of 17, and the conversion of the World War II listed building -once used as the corps museum-into four homes.
Bayview, with the support of Winchester City Council, applied to English Heritage for permission to demolish it, but the request was refused.
Conservation officer, Hazel Brushett, told city planners committee that English Heritage was now very much in favour of the scaled-down proposals.
A new application would now go before the full planning committee after officers had discussed "a few minor changes" with the developer.
