People with multiple sclerosis have called for improvements in care services.
A survey for the Multiple Sclerosis Society found people changed their entire lifestyle to fit in with care workers.
The study said being put to bed at 8.30pm outlined one of many examples of inflexibility.
Participants said they had concerns about lack of staff continuity and workers turning up late or not at all.
It said delivery of care must be more focused on the individual needs of people with different lives.
Opinion Leader Research carried out the survey following the recent publication of the green paper on adult social care.
It found a customer supplier relationship was missing from care delivered by social services.
The direct payment system, which allows people to buy services for their needs and get flexible help, was said to provide this sort of relationship.
