Paul Terry hailed the spirit of his side after Hampshire took five Gloucestershire wickets in seven overs to set up a tense final day at the Rose Bowl today.

The Hampshire manager saw Billy Taylor (3 for 36) and Shane Warne (2 for 37) put Hampshire in a position of strength on the back of Chris Tremlett's career best 64.

Gloucestreshire now need 107 more to win today with five wickets left.

But Terry said: "One thing we've developed is a really good fighting spirit which is something we pride ourselves on because it's coming from different directions, not just one person.

"It's been from Nic in the past but Billy has come back from a couple of tightish hamstrings and bowled fantastically to get three wickets. All credit to Paddy the physio for getting him going.

"But there was a period forsix to sevens overs just before we got Phil Weston out when we looked like we might get a wicket without the rub of the green ever going our way.

"The way the game's gone, with wickets falling in tumbles, we felt we were right back in the game as soon as we got that first one and that's the way it turned out.

Weston and Spearman have developed a really good opening partnership as they have shown in both innings but we've got to guard against any good late partnerships from Gloucestershire and try and get amongst them very quickly in the morning.

"At one point we felt that we would be in with a chance if we got a lead of 150 or 160 and we've ended up with 251 so it's very unpredictable.

"You never know which way this game is going to go, there's still a lot of work to do."
