Newly restored print of Otto Preminger's 1959 thriller, based on the novel by John D Voelker.
Lieutenant Frederick Manion (Ben Gazzara) is arrested for the murder of barman Barney Quill, the man he claims raped his beautiful wife Laura (Lee Remick). Shrewd and wily defence lawyer Paul Beigler (James Stewart) agrees to represent Manion, on the basis that his mind must have been clouded with rage - he was not in control of his actions.
Hotshot District Attorney Claude Dancer (George C Scott) is called in to spearhead the prosecution's case and to ensure a conviction. As the trial unfolds, the truth becomes obscured by lies and deception - was Laura raped after all or could the sex kitten have enticed the victim?
