GOLF buggies and golfers crossing a country road with high speed traffic would be an 'accident waiting to happen' if permission for a golf course on the Wiltshire/Hampshire border is given the go-ahead.
Part of the proposed 27-hole course at Great Shoddesden would cross the Shoddesden Lane and members of Ludger-shall Parish Council say they have grave concerns about the potential for conflict.
"It would appear that players and golf buggies will have to cross Shoddesden Lane at a certain point. The increase in pedestrians and traffic along the lane are an accident waiting to happen," said Julie Gardner, planning committee chairman.
"We have concerns with regard to the construction phase as this will generate huge amounts of heavy traffic.
"Up to six heavy vehicles will travel to and from the site per hour and this will generate congestion, dust, debris and noise at the very least. Once built there would be car parking for 120 vehicles which would lead to a significant increase in traffic pulling onto and off the A342 and Perham Down roads."
