What's on in the south this month.

ROCK covers band Sticklebach perform at The Red Lion in Totton tonight. The Hampshire foursome is made up of talented musicians who have between them played with the likes of Red Hot Chili Peppers and Lisa Stansfield.

The group perform all the best loved 80s pop rock tracks, including songs by artists such as Bon Jovi, Guns 'N' Roses and Pink Floyd.

LIVERPUDLIAN soul band The Christians formed in the 1980s and went on to become one of the biggest soul acts in the UK, with their debut album selling over a million copies in the UK alone.

The record sales may have slowed, but their soulful talent has not subsided, and will be on show at The Brook in Southampton on Sunday night. Look out for a new album as well!

ALSO at The Brook in the next seven days is Sam Brown, daughter of the famous Joe Brown. Armed only with a piano, ukulele and bass guitar, this down-to-earth and charming performer looks set to create an intimate and highly charged atmosphere on her solo tour.

Sam is also touring with Jools Holland this year and sang backing vocals on Paul Weller's latest album, demonstrating just how in-demand she is at the moment.

ROCK music fans are in for a treat at the Joiners Arms in Southampton on Wednesday. A trio of rock acts will take it in turns to headline with their pure and unadulterated rock 'n' roll as part of 'The New School of Rock' tour.

The Glitterati are a band who look set to make it big with their aim to inject a bit of glamour into the world of rock. They release their album later this month, so keep an eye out for them in the charts.

Hurricane Party, who have been described as an American 80s rock act trapped in the bodies of 20-year-old British blokes, will also appear at the gig. Infectious Liverpool band The Black Velvets are also on the line-up.

JIVE fans should already know about the Jump, Jive and Boogie Weekend that is taking place all weekend at the Sinah Warren Hotel on Hayling Island.

Live music, dance workshops and late-night jive discos are only some of the treats for enthusiasts. Live acts who are set to appear include Blue Harlem, The Big Heat and The Hothouse Playboys.

SUBITANGO is a dance and music show that has performed to sell-out audiences throughout the UK.

Now audiences in Hampshire will get the chance to see the breathtakingly beautiful show when it is performed at the New Theatre Royal in Portsmouth on Wednesday and Thursday.

Inspired by the passionate music from Buenos Aires, the renowned tango ensemble Tango Siempre provide the music, whilst acclaimed tango dance couple Mina and Giraldo have choreographed the show.

MANCHESTER act I Am Kloot released their latest album, Gods and Monsters, on Monday.

That gives local fans a couple of days to get themselves familiar with their darker and more ambitious new material before their gig at the Wedgewood Rooms in Southsea on Wednesday.

The acoustic-driven three-piece have just released their self-titled album in the States, and have just returned from their debut tour on the other side of the Atlantic.

SOUTHAMPTON'S razor-sharp leftfield rockers Sine Star Project headline at The Joiners tonight ahead of the release of their debut album Blue Born Earth Boy, which is released on Little Indian Records next month.

The city's most vibrant five piece got together in 2003 standing out from the crowd courtesy of their outlandish sensibilities and banjo-crested songs.

NO one blends the power and emotion of classic rock with delicious contemporary pop hooks like Southampton melody makers The Warm.

STYLISH art punk duo Clor play Southampton's Lennons on Thursday before playing the Joiners next month.

Clor weld the relentless rhythmic pulse of a group like Can or Neu to the angularity of early Talking Heads and Eno.

When thrown into a mix that feeds on deviant pop sensibility from the likes of early Roxy Music, Devo and the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, what emerges is a sound as idiosyncratic as it is exploratory.
