BRITAIN'S newest National Park has already sparked more than one heated debate.

Now the Daily Echo is giving you the chance to have your say on what new logo should represent the National Park worldwide.

Four proposals (right) have been put forward. The winning logo will be used on notice boards, signs and artwork throughout the park and wherever the New Forest is featured.

It's an important decision. The new logo will be chosen at the next meeting of the New Forest National Park Authority (NPA) on May 17.

But we are giving you a vote here. Simply decide which logo you prefer and then phone or text our poll voting line following the instructions in the panel.

Your verdict will be revealed in the Daily Echo, and we will be passing on the vote to the NPA in time for the final decision.

Dozens of residents at the inaugural meeting at the Lyndhurst Park Hotel were handed forms and asked to tick one of four boxes to nominate their favourite.

NPA chairman Ted Johnson said: "The image chosen is going to go far and wide and will give a subliminal message about the New Forest National Park - and we want it to be the right image.

"We also want to make quite sure that visitors are well aware that they're entering a National Park which, by definition, will be a very special place."

An NPA spokesman said the forms returned after the meeting provided the authority with useful feedback.

She added: "A working party will consider all the responses and make a recommendation, which won't be based purely on the number of votes."

The successful logo will grace road signs at various "gateways" to the Forest. It will also appear on brochures and letter headings, T-shirts and other souvenirs taken home by visitors.

One of the designs depicts two generations of New Forest ponies grazing beside a solitary tree. Another shows a tree bearing a symbol based on a silver penny minted during the reign of William the Conqueror, who created the Forest in 1079.

One of the other logos comprises a cross-section of animals and plants, while the fourth design shows the heads of two ponies.

The choice is yours. Vote today for your favourite.
